‘Cut it out’
An exploration of a ‘way of being’ that is elusive yet has a tight grip
Presentation proposal for the artwork ‘Cut it Out’: flash cards held in a filing box with dividers alongside the book ‘Only Fiona’. Video piece on small screen possibly displayed above the former objects. All held in a Child’s Suitcase. The audience is invited to leaf through the filing box and book.
A childhood suitcase holds all the work
I chose filing cards as a reference to the analogue search systems historically used in libraries. The film, presented on a screen, signifies contemporary digital systems. The work Cut It Out situates itself between these two modes exploring the tension perhaps between the analogue and the digital - the old and the new, the young and the old.

Work in process:
I sit down with a child’s book that I found one day in a second hand shop, the title of which contains my namesake. I intentionally cut 'it' out from all the chapters. After each chapter I sit with the experience of it and see where it takes me.
